We had the chance to visit with rising country artist Brett Eldredge just before his recent album preview party at Marathon Village. A big group of supporters, family and friends showed up to hear tunes from Bring You Back before its release, August 6. They also had a surprise in store when presenting Brett with his first gold record for the hit single, 'Don't Ya.”
NL: Your new album this month, 'Don't Ya” has been charting incredibly well and you've had the chance to write with the likes of Bill Anderson and Gary Allanwhat's been your biggest 'pinch me” moment so far?
BE: I got to go on tour with Taylor Swift this year, and we played a venue that's where the Lions play, Ford Field, and there were 50,000 people in there. That was a 'pinch me” moment of like, 'This is insane, this is a crazy moment.” It's just been a wild journey and to be able to go out there and do that was a special moment in my life. It's been a lot of fun.
NL: Is there one song in particular you're most excited about people hearing?
BE: There's a few of them. I mean, I guess I want ‘em to hear all of them, but there's a song called 'Bring You Back” that's a really powerful song. It's the title of the album, and it's a very special, powerful song. It's the only song on the album I didn't write, but when I heard this song, I said there's no way I cannot record this. I hear myself singing, and I feel like I wrote it I gotta get it out there. It's a really powerful song.
NL: Now that you opened for Taylor Swift on the RED Tour, who else would you like to tour with?
BE: You know what, let's see. There're so many people. I love Blake Shelton and Keith Urban. I love George Strait, though he's about to wrap it up, so I guess I'm not going to do that I just want to go watch that show. I'm going to be on tour with Dierks (Bentley) and Miranda (Lambert) later this fall, so that's going to be a lot of fun. You know, whoever will take me I want to go out there and just enjoy playing music anywhere. I love doing it.
NL: We recently saw your 'Cut Your Jeans” infomercial, which is hilarious. Was it your idea or somebody else's? How did that happen?
BE: That was my idea. I'm obsessed with infomercials. The cheesier the better and the more funny, so I've watched a lot infomercials riding down the highway in the middle of the night when I'm going to the next place I'm playing a show. It'll be some terrible infomercial on TV but really funny, and I was like, why can't I make my own? So I made the Brett Eldredge 'Cut ‘em just right” kit for girls to cut their jeans.
NL: So, the kit is not for guys? BE: Yeah. Well, ya know, you can go with jorts below the knees. Go below the knees though.
NL: Our August issue is our Hot List issue. What's on your 'Hot List” in Nashville?
BE: Old Hickory Lake, the party cove that's hot. The hotter the better in the summertime I grew up on a lake, so that's perfect to me. Hot chicken, we got Hattie B's here (at the album release party) tonight. Peanut butter, any kind of peanut butter you can name, it's on my hot list. Fishing. I love my Fuel band. Kate Upton, if she lived in Nashville, that'd be awesome.
NL: Now for a quick round of 'This or That'.
Bridgestone or Ryman?
BE: Ryman, 100 times.
Gabby's or Rotier's?
BE: Ooh, I'd say Gabby's.
Preds game or Titans Game? BE: Titans. 100 percent. Yes.
