What organization are you affiliated with and why is it important to you?
I recently became an official advocate/ partner with Girls Inc. of Tennessee. I have been wanting to work with this organization for a long time. My Community Service Initiative “Elevate; empowering girls, equipping women” fits perfectly into the mission of Girls Inc. They inspire young girls to be strong, smart, and bold through direct service and advocacy. As Miss Tennessee, I have dedicated my year to help young women discover not only confidence but provide them with tools to help them find their identity. As women, especially, we are constantly told what to wear and who to be. We also struggle with comparing ourselves to women we see on social media and in person. If we can root our identity in something solid, it will not be affected by others’ opinions or a society that is constantly changing. We are all on earth on purpose, for a purpose, and if we are constantly trying to be someone else, we rob the world of our own beautiful and unique gifts.
Who has been the greatest influence in your life?
My mom. She taught me not only how to walk through life, but she has walked with me. The way she has pushed me, encouraged me, held me accountable, and stood by my side is the only reason I am who I am today. She has taught me to be confident in every room I walk into, that it is destructive to always view people as competition, and to appreciate every individual and their gifts. She has shown me what it means to be a woman of God and for that I am forever grateful.
How would friends describe you in three words?
Extroverted, loyal, compassionate.
