What accomplishment are you most proud of?
I was super proud when I walked across the stage in 2022 with my MBA. I applied to business school on a whim in 2018, when I needed a brain-stimulating distraction after a year of learning in Leadership Nashville, our city’s amazing executive program. Graduate school saved my sanity through COVID, when I became the sole anchor working instudio, then staying until 3 a.m. finishing homework. Serving our community in such a meaningful way, while learning something completely new from scratch (I was a French and International Relations major at Vanderbilt), was really something to celebrate.
What organization are you affiliated with and why is it important to you?
For the last several years, I’ve focused much of my free time on the advisory board of UpRise Nashville, which trains men and women living in poverty or with major barriers to employment (i.e., a criminal record), in actual careers with upward mobility and significant salaries. And at no cost to them! Families are coming off government assistance. We’re talking generational impact and life-changing hope.
What is your definition of beauty?
What makes a person beautiful, to me, has little to do with his or her physical features. It’s a joyful and kind spirit; confidence in one’s unique shape and abilities; and a genuine love for others, whatever their status. Selfishness, arrogance, and vanity can make the prettiest person so ugly.
