What accomplishment are you most proud of?
I always try to do my best, every single day, even on days when I do not feel so great. When I’m on the stage, I forget all the negative things and just dance. I enjoy showing the audience my love and emotion so they also can feel connected with my performances. In my heart, I am always dancing for my family, so they can always be proud of me. I have also been venturing out as a choreographer with my students for a long time. I have created my own version of Swan Lake Act 2, a suite of Don Quixote Act 1, and two versions of my own choreography of the waltz in Sleeping Beauty. I have a passion for designing choreography that I never imagined, and I want to continue learning and expanding my knowledge of these artistic expressions.
What is your self-care routine?
I work until almost 9 p.m. during the week, so my weekends and free time are my moments for relaxation. I love my spa days at home, where I enjoy taking care of myself. I like to do my own manicure and pedicure, my hair, and take care of my skin. My other favorite thing is experimenting in the kitchen with fancy recipes. Sometimes you don’t need very much to spoil yourself.
A quote you live by:
I have a few that I always say when I teach: “Today is the perfect day for sunshine!” “Dance with your soul!” And, “In ballet, less is better - but it’s never enough!”
