What is one thing most people don’t know about you?
I never spent a day in college. Not that I advocate others following suit, but it wasn’t in the cards for me, and it didn’t hold me back personally or professionally.
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
Other than my family, I am most proud of bringing the Johnny Cash Museum to Nashville (and the world). Johnny has been a huge influence in my entire life, and I was determined to honor him in the town he literally branded. We’ve seen millions of guests since we opened the museum. It’s very gratifying to see people from around the world who’ve been inspired by his amazing legacy. It’s also been an honor to work with Frank Sinatra’s family on our Sinatra Bar & Lounge.
Who is someone you consider a hero and why?
My wife Shannon, hands-down. She took on my three boys when they were very young and raised them (and me) selflessly. She’s the kindest, smartest person I know. In our 27 years together, we’ve only been apart 10 days total. We’ve worked side by side in business every day for nearly three decades. She’s my best friend.
