What is one thing most people don’t know about you?
Most people are surprised to learn that I have a 32-year-old son and four beautiful grandchildren. They’re the most unexpected and joyful parts of my story.
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
Two moments stand out above all: the courage it took to navigate through coming out and to live life as my most authentic self, and the grit and vision it took to build — and eventually sell — a successful business. Both required resilience, faith, and a deep commitment to growth.
Who is someone you consider a hero and why?
My mom is my hero. She married my father — a Black man — just three years after interracial marriage became legal. The courage she showed in the face of relentless racism from her own community and family is something I now recognize as heroic. She lived with conviction, love, and a quiet defiance that paved the way for me to be who I am.
