What is one thing most people don’t know about you?
I grew up in a family that is predominantly Jewish but my mother’s side are all Christian. So I spent my childhood going to both synagogue and church.
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
Moving my life across the ocean to another country and making a life for myself even though I felt terrified most of the time.
How would friends describe you in three words?
I have no idea! But if I had to guess….goofy, caring, and defensive.
Tell us about a skill or activity that you’ve always wanted to try or one you’ve learned and mastered?
I recently learnt how to fly and land a Cessna 172 plane. I'm a beginner but very excited to be going for my pilot’s license. Im obsessed!
Name the person who has been the greatest influence in your life.
There is definitely more than one person but maybe the greatest influence is my husband, John. No one has taught me the things he has as a human being. He makes me feel fearless.
Name an organization or non-profit that you affiliate with outside of work and why it’s important to you.
“I Know a Woman” was recently founded by my friends Twinnie Lee Moore and Summer Overstreet. Focusing on providing free mental health care for creatives. Mental health isn’t focussed on enough and our industry needs to recognize how essential it is to guide artists through a sometimes turbulent industry.
Tell us about someone you consider a hero and why?
My sister Mia is a single mother to two young boys. She is also a full time school teacher. She has always been a person with such an adventurous spirit and has never been afraid to delve into unknown territories. She has endured tragedy in her life and keeps going. I believe she can do anything so I keep going too.
What are a few of your favorite places in Nashville?
Margot Cafe, the Frist Museum, Basement East, the Ryman, Mas Tacos, the view of downtown Nashville at night, and my house.
Tell us about your routine/tips for looking and feeling great inside and/or out (salon, spa, fitness, wellness, well-being, etc.)
I'm not great about getting enough sleep. I wanna be awake most hours of the day. But I know when to be alone and take time. I need space to get my head straight. I've always placed importance on time to myself. I love long bubble baths. I work out sometimes but not strictly -but try and make sure I’m getting outside and moving. I love getting massages and feel that anything that is self love makes you feel good inside and out. It’s when im stressed and not taking time that I start to feel rough. I’m a sucker for skin products so will lay in bath with a new facemask on. I am careful who I chose to be around.. I think everyone should be. Be with people who bring out your best and stand by your worst.
Describe your perfect day.
My perfect day would be with my entire family - both my immediate family in New Zealand and here in Nashville. Preferably on a boat. I love being on or near the water. I grew up near the ocean so I miss that. I'm praying that day is gonna come soon.
Do you have a favorite quote you live by that you would like to share (and why)?
“Get up, show up, and never give up.”
What is your definition of beauty—as it pertains to yourself and/or others?
Honesty with yourself. Giving yourself permission to be your truest self. Letting whatever is inside be honored. True beauty shines when you accept yourself, and that makes us truly capable of loving other people unconditionally. I feel most beautiful when im being honest and proud of who I am, no matter what I think the outside world will tell me. It makes me walk into a room confidently.
