Each year we celebrate the incredible people that make Nashville a beautiful place to live. This year, we toast a lineup that includes creatives, business people, culinarians, and everything in between. With a passion for philanthropy and a beautiful outlook on life, these are the men and women who make Music City shine.
Name: Cody Alan
Age: 48
Hometown: Columbia, SC but I’ve been a proud Nashvillian for 13 years
Occupation: Host, TV/Radio
What is one thing most people don’t know about you?
I’m obsessed with weather! Growing up, I was either gonna be a TV weatherman or music host. You can see what happened!
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
Kids, family. But I’m also proud to have lived my dreams. It’s one thing to imagine how you want your life to be. It’s another to have opportunities to make it happen. I’m just thankful for the chances I’ve had to see it all through.
How would friends describe you in three words?
I hope they’d say I’m sweet and smart with a little bit of sass and spunk.
Tell us about a skill or activity that you’ve always wanted to try or one you’ve learned and mastered?
My son has taught me a lot about video gaming. I’m working on it!
Tell us about someone you consider a hero and why?
After coming out in 2017, I’ve looked up to those like me. TJ Osborne has become a hero.
What are a few of your favorite places in Nashville?
Lately I’m loving I Love Sushi on Elliston. Just down the street is Play, which is a nice one-two punch on date night.
Describe your perfect day.
Morning workout, some good food, family time, Trea time, late night movie at home. I also love my work, which never feels like a job.
Do you have a favorite quote you live by that you would like to share (and why)?
“It’s an evolution, not a revolution” is a mantra that reminds me that great things usually happen over time, not overnight.
What is your definition of beauty—as it pertains to yourself and/or others?
Beauty starts with love and empathy. In my book, Hear’s The Thing, (coming out November 9), I focus on the importance of being present enough to listen to others and ourselves. This kind of real connection helps us live more beautifully and with true authenticity.
