On Monday, March 31, guests gathered at City Winery for Woofstock at the Winery with Emmylou Harris and Larkin Poe.
Proceeds from the event benefitted Bonaparte's Retreat, a charity established by Harris in 2004 with the goal of rescuing shelter dogs and adopting them into forever homes. Bonaparte's Retreat continues to save dogs most in need at Metro Nashville Animal Care and Control and at municipal shelters in surrounding counties.
Harris’ career has spanned more than forty years and her accomplishments include becoming a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2008 and earning a Grammy Lifetime Achievement award in 2018. Harris has recorded more than 25 albums, selling more than 15 million records and garnering 14 Grammy Awards, three CMA Awards, and four Americana Awards. She has also lent her talents to fellow artists’ recordings including Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, and more. Rebecca and Megan Lovell of Larkin Poe are Grammy-winning singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist sisters creating their own brand of Roots Rock 'n' Roll: gritty, soulful, and flavored by their southern heritage.
Harris and Larkin Poe entertained the sold out crowd with songs from Harris’ impressive catalog as well as songs written by Larkin Poe interspersed with stories about many of the songs.
