The Next Door Recovery (TNDR) welcomed nearly 300 guests and community members at its Annual Benefit Luncheon on Tuesday, Sept. 23, at St. George’s Episcopal Church in Nashville. This year’s theme, “Never Broken,” underscored the resilience and strength found in recovery and brought together friends, supporters and advocates to celebrate TNDR’s mission and impact across Tennessee. The 2025 TNDR Annual Luncheon was the largest in the organization’s history and raised over $500,000 in support of the mission of The Next Door Recovery.
“The generosity of the Nashville community to help women heal is truly remarkable,” said Rachel Morris, TNDR executive director. “This year’s luncheon raised record funds to expand TNDR’s impact across the region. We are grateful to our incredible community’s support of our mission and to empower women for a lifetime of recovery.”
Keynote speaker Margot Shaw, founder and editor-in-chief of FLOWER Magazine, received a surprise introduction from her daughter, Hansell Holt, a TNDR volunteer. During Shaw’s keynote address, she captivated the audience by courageously sharing her inspiring story of recovery from substance use.
“The Next Door Recovery plays a vital role in supporting women’s recovery from substance use, offering services that I wish had been available during my own recovery journey,” Shaw said. “I am grateful for the opportunity to participate in TNDR’s Annual Luncheon and to support the important mission of this remarkable organization.”
This year’s event also included the presentation of the 2025 “Jesus Calling” Award to Betty Dickens, a longtime supporter of TNDR. Dickens played a pivotal role with her prayers and vision in the founding of TNDR back in 2004. Named after Sarah Young’s inspirational book, “Jesus Calling,” the award is presented to individuals who serve God in a selfless and meaningful way, spreading His word and encouraging others to seek Him in their lives.
Chaired by Grace Clayton and Mary Elizabeth Davis, all proceeds from the Annual Luncheon support TNDR’s evidence-based and faith-informed services, which empower women struggling with substance use and co-occurring disorders.
