On Sunday, June 30, The Gentle Barn hosted over 150 attendees for a special meet and greet event with comedian and actor, Steve O while he was in town for his three comedy shows at Zanie's.
Although this was Steve O's first visit to the Nashville location, he has been a great supporter of The Gentle Barn and has made many trips to their California location.
"I'm so excited to visit The Gentle Barn's Nashville location! I'm such a huge fan of everything they do, and now I'm trying to learn as much as I can about it, so that my fiancee (Lux) and I can run our own animal sanctuary soon" - Steve O
The Gentle Barn is a national nonprofit organization, founded in 1999 as a sanctuary and place of recovery for severely abused animals and children. We rescue and rehabilitate animals from severe abuse and neglect who are too old, sick, lame, or scared to be adopted. We are sanctuary to horses, donkeys, cows, pigs, sheep, goats, turkeys, chickens, llamas, peacocks, emus, cats and dogs.
The Gentle Barn offers their unique philosophy of connecting the animals’ stories of survival and healing to the personal experiences of inner city, at-risk and special needs children who have suffered physical, mental or emotional trauma. By interacting with The Gentle Barn’s approximate one hundred and fifty animals and taking a hands-on role in their welfare, those who participate in the programs at The Gentle Barn learn empathy, trust and forgiveness.
