The President James K. Polk Home and Museum hosted its annual Bloodys and Biscuits fundraiser where a record-breaking 400+ guests enjoyed ham biscuits and Bloody Marys in the home's gardens while listening to musical entertainment from country band Dixie Crossing. Notable guests included Senator Lamar Alexander, Congressman Scott DesJarlias and Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn.
The event preceded Columbia's infamous Mule Day parade, a tradition that began in 1840 and is now the largest event in the area attracting more than 100,000 visitors to Columbia. The Bloodys and Biscuits event raised funds for the James K. Polk Home and Museum and promoted legislation to relocate James and Sarah Polk's remains from the State Capitol to the memorial site at the James K. Polk Home and Museum in Columbia.
