On Monday, December 10, Taqueria del Sol's 12 South location hosted its fourth annual "A Taqueria Holiday" fundraiser to support Safe Haven Family Shelter.
In attendance were hundreds of Nashvillians, including notables Dierks and Cassidy Bentley, Vice Mayor Jim Shulman, Chip Esten, and Patty Hanson. For every $1 spent on food and beverage, Safe Haven received a generous donation of $7. Profits from the night were matched by Dierks and Cassidy Bentley, Brian and Sarah Layton, Zac and Caroline Thomas, Vic and Liz Thomas, and both Taqueria del Sol Nashville and Atlanta.
Taqueria del Sol Nashville managing partner, Tony Halligan, a veteran restauranteur, first learned about Safe Haven from his friends and regular customers Dierks and Cassidy Bentley.
The Taqueria Nashville team members visited Safe Haven and were deeply moved by the compassionate services to help families with children transition from homelessness to stable housing. They came up with the unique plan to raise money by hosting an event that draws support from the restaurant’s devoted clientele and Safe Haven supporters. The Bentleys added their support, becoming a host of the event and donating a matching gift.
