Just in time for the 80th anniversary of The Wizard of Oz, TPAC is bringing the story of Dorothy and her ruby red slippers back for three days, running February 8 - 10.
Katherine Walker Hill, who plays Aunt Em/Glinda the Good Witch, says the show is “a classic celebration of the original film with a few modern elements.” It will include songs from the 1939 MGM film, such as “Over the Rainbow” and “If I Only Had a Brain.” Although the TPAC production is an homage to the original, Hill notes there will be “technical elements that can only occur through the magic of live theatre.”
Speaking on the film’s popularity that has spanned across time, Hill says, “I love how The Wizard of Oz is multi-generational. I think one reason it resonates with so many is because everyone can relate to the main theme of ‘home.’”
