Tomato Art Fest returns to the Five Points area in East Nashville from August 8 – 9 for its 22nd year. The free, two-day festival is open to all ages and showcases talented artists who have been drawing inspiration from tomatoes for over two decades.
The festival’s wacky traditions seem to grow more every year, gathering over 65,000+ attendees to enjoy art, music on two stages, unique contests, fun activities, and access to over 225 vendors to shop, eat, and drink tomato-inspired creations. Don’t be shy, attendees dressing up in tomato gear is always encouraged and usually rewarded throughout the weekend.
Friday’s festivities will feature live music on the 37206 stage and a selection of booths, food trucks, and drinks. Be sure to return Saturday because the full festival will kick off at 9 a.m. on August 9 with the annual Tomato Art Fest Push, Pull & Wear Parade. The parade features exciting tomato-inspired costumes, strollers, wagons, and more that brighten the streets of East Nashville. It will conclude at the center of Five Points where you can find several photo opportunities and tomato-inspired graffiti.
Then, get ready to groove. Live music begins at 11 a.m. with seven bands rocking out on the 11th St. Stage, including the Battle of the Vine fan vote winner and headliner, Roxi Jane. The 37206 Main Stage music starts at noon in the Beyond the Edge Parking Lot with bands until the festival ends at 7 p.m.
Throughout the day, crowd-favorite Tomato Art Fest contests will be held under the Contest Tent, including the Haiku Contest, Beautiful Tomato, and the Costume Contest. Plus, the Biggest, Littlest, and Ugliest Contest winners will be on display under the tent starting at 2 p.m. More information can be found at Tomato Art Fest’s website.
