The Iroquois Steeplechase sponsored by Bank of America is gearing up for its 2025 festival on Saturday, May 10 at Percy Warner Park. Attendees and newcomers are in for an experience that continues the event’s rich history and tradition with enhanced and luxury experiences.
Here are five essential topics about this year’s event that will ensure a day of excitement, community spirit, and responsible enjoyment. (iroquoissteeplechase.org)
1. The Experience: Various Options and What to Bring
Embrace the day with essentials for sun protection and comfort — sunscreen, sunglasses, and hats are must-haves. Pack bottled water to stay hydrated and don’t forget your phone to capture the moments.
WIFI will be available in the Steeplechase Central area, catering to your connectivity needs. As cell service can be limited, we recommend planning your communications accordingly.
An added benefit for Box Seat owners, a cash bar will return to the Box Seat area so that owners and their guests can come “hands and hassle free” and purchase a beverage, eliminating the need to cart in your own.
A fan favorite, the Hunt Club patio area will be back again this year. In addition, several TVs will be added to the racing experience. The Hunt Club is undergoing a rebrand over the next few years, so attendees will see more enhanced experiences.
Royal 615 lounge will be catered with light bites provided all day as part of the experience and will remain open until 7 p.m. as the DJs and after-party will continue on the grounds after the races. Tickets are required for Royal 615 and the lounge seating area to attend the after-party.
Tailgating: Create the perfect experience with friends, co-workers, or family by selecting from six unique tailgating areas. Tailgating spots include space for one car and a 10x10 pop-up tent. You can enhance your space by adding the Tent Package option, which includes a 10x10 tent, table, and chairs. Don’t forget that Steeplechase offers a Family Area as well. Children 12 and under will get into the tailgating area complimentary with a supervising adult.
Individual Tickets: You can gain access to Steeplechase Central, explore the shops, enjoy food trucks, and visit all tailgating areas with an individual ticket.
Remember, the Iroquois Steeplechase is a pet-free, glass-free, and drone-free event to ensure everyone’s safety and enjoyment.
2. Dress Code and Essentials: What to Wear
What to wear for the ladies
Dress to Impress: Opt for lightweight fabrics in vibrant tones. Flowy dresses in linen or cotton are perfect for the May weather, offering both style and comfort.
Statement Headwear: Fascinators and wide-brim hats are not just tradition; they’re a fashion statement. Choose one that complements your outfit and adds that extra touch of elegance. Attendees, men and women, can also check out Christine Moore’s unique and elegant collection at camhats.com. Moore is the most celebrated milliner in the history of American horse racing.
Comfortable Footwear: Consider low to medium block or wedge heels for style and comfort. For unpredictable weather, stylish rain boots can be a practical yet fashionable choice.
What to wear for the gentlemen
Smart Casual: A sport coat paired with a crisp shirt and comfortable trousers offers a perfect blend of elegance and comfort.
Accessorize: Sunglasses and a stylish loafer can elevate your look, making you race-day ready.
3. Event Schedule: A Day Packed with Excitement
The gates will open early, with tailgating starting at 8:30 a.m. The opening ceremonies will start at noon and mark the beginning of an exhilarating lineup of six races throughout the day, with highlights during the day including the Style Contest, the Tailgating Contest, Stick Pony Races for the kids, and the Parade of Hounds. Each race will showcase the incredible athleticism of both horse and rider, promising a day filled with thrilling competition and community celebration. The event will conclude with the closing of hospitality tents approximately 15 minutes after the final race around 5:30 p.m.
4. Dining and Shopping: Culinary Delights and Unique Finds
This year, Iroquois Steeplechase will boast an expanded array of vendor shops and food trucks. There’s a third vendor area in between our Topside and Midfield sections while also adding additional vendors into the Steeplechase Central and Hillside Shoppes. Whether you’re in the mood for a quick snack or a full meal, the variety of culinary options will satisfy any appetite. Don’t forget to stop by our official merchandise store for your souvenirs from such a fun day!
5. Parking and Transportation: Complimentary Designated Driver ticket for Tailgaters
In a continuous effort to promote safety and responsibility, Iroquois Steeplechase is proud to again offer a Designated Driver ticket at no charge. This is designed to ensure that every tailgating spot can designate a sober driver, enhancing the safety of our attendees and the community at large. This addition underscores the commitment to providing a responsible and enjoyable environment for everyone.
Parking passes will be available for purchase for those who are driving to the event. We also have a ride-share designated drop-off location that will make it easier to get on the grounds. Ensure that you have your parking pass printed and ready for a smooth entry to the grounds.
