To say that we’ve spent our fair share of time this past year stuck inside, glued to our phones, computers and TVs would be an understatement.
And with summer right around the corner, it’s getting harder and harder to fight off the travel bug. Luckily, Getaway — the company offering mindful escapes to small cabins in nature — is providing a safe, socially distanced way to disconnect from the world of Zoom calls and emails and indulge in the tranquility of nature. Now with its new Outpost, Getaway Dale Hollow, a serene outdoor retreat is just a short two-hour drive from Nashville.
Nestled in Celina, Tenn., Getaway Dale Hollow marks the company’s third Outpost in the Southeast, and its first in Tennessee. Sitting on 415 acres of land, this location boasts the largest acreage of Getaway’s Outposts across the country. Perched on a ridgetop, the heavily wooded locale features breathtaking rolling hill views for an unforgettable stay at this outdoor oasis. In this collection of fifty socially distanced, custom-built cabins, guests can choose between cabins with a queen bed for one to two guests, or a cabin with two queen bunks for larger parties of three to four. The tiny cabins are filled with “everything you need and nothing you don’t” to encourage maximum relaxation and outdoor connectivity. Each offers a bathroom stocked with shampoo, conditioner, body wash and towels, along with a kitchen including a stove, mini fridge and essential cookware.
Cabins even feature a lock box, where guests can choose to lock away their phones to focus on connecting with loved ones and embracing nature. The use of natural elements throughout the cabins such as wood, metal, glass, and Eastern pine create a seamless transition from inside to outside. But perhaps the most exciting feature is the large picture window strategically placed in each cabin for optimal outdoor views. Whether you’re falling asleep against the backdrop of a starlit sky or waking up to a stunning sunrise, this window keeps the beauty of nature in full focus.“If you’ve ever woken up to a big, beautiful window and a sunrise or sunset is happening right in front of you, it’s magical,” says Regional Director Ernesto Gonzalez.
And since no camping trip is complete without a campfire, each cabin features a fire pit including a grilling grate, picnic table, and chairs for picturesque fireside evenings. Not to mention a S’mores supply kit waiting to welcome guests upon arrival. But at Getaway Dale Hollow, opportunities to explore the beauty of nature extend far beyond the cabins. Head to neighboring Dale Hollow Lake for some waterfront fun, stroll the trail at Bearwaller Gap along the Cumberland River as you take in views of the bluffs, or venture out to the Roaring River Falls Trail for an unforgettable hike leading to a gorgeous waterfall.
“There are so many trails around the area. And in the actual Outpost you have beautiful waterfalls, beautiful creeks that are running on the property. And with 415 acres, we have some pretty awesome trails of our own,” Gonzalez says.
Whether you’re in search of creative inspiration, a space for self-reflection, a device-free trip to connect with loved ones, or just an escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life, Getaway Dale Hollow serves as the ultimate outdoor retreat to relax, explore, unplug, and connect with nature in all its glory. “We’re all so constantly plugged in to everything. [At Getaway] we believe strongly that it’s more about the simplicity, the balance, the leisure, and just the time needed to improve our own well-being,” says Gonzalez. “Our hope when people leave Getaway Dale Hollow is that they’re feeling relaxed, refreshed, and recharged; that it helps them feel ready to take on their next adventure.” (getaway.house/nashville)
