Meet Rainey, the beloved Metro Animal Care and Control mascot. Known for brightening the days of staff, volunteers, and visitors at MACC, this kitty is truly treasured by the community. The spotlight not only welcomes her but favors her.

How old is Rainey?
13 years old!
Tell us a little bit about how you got her and your initial reaction/feelings when you met?
Rainey was an owner surrender. She didn’t have the same luscious coat that she has now, but we grew fond of her very quickly and were excited to have an office/working cat.
What are Rainey’s favorite activities?
Lounging, demanding treats, and purrfecting her CEO skills (Cat Executive Officer).
How would you best describe her personality?
Sassy, yet dignified — with sprinkles of affection.
What kind of impact has Rainey made at MACC?
Rainey is such a focal point at MACC. She unites staff and volunteers. Whether you’re a “cat person” or not, you can’t help but love her. There have also been multiple Rainey T-shirts over the years. Affection from Rainey is sought after and truly treasured. She is local royalty, and we are so fortunate to share in her kingdom.
Please tell us more about Rainey’s duties as MACC mascot.
Where to begin! Rainey’s main duties entail overseeing MACC operations (particularly in our laundry room, as well as our Admin offices). She also inspects donations, has a strict quality control over incoming treats, and excels in greeting guests. Photo ops are child’s play for Rainey as she was destined for the spotlight.
