'I have dreamt the same dream since I was little: to own a clothing store one day,” says Kathleen Goff.
The former assistant director of development at Daystar Counseling Ministries recently made this dream come true with the launch of the K. McCarthy Fashion Truck.
Aware that many women are busier than ever, Goff saw an opportunity and opening in the market. She fills the void by offering a place for those who want to shop but just can't find the timeshe brings apparel, accessories, and advice directly to them. From busy moms to working women, her customers get the accessibility and convenience of a truck that sets up shop in their driveway. Moms have invited Goff to come by while their children are down for a nap, while others who work nine to five schedule visits after hours and invite their girlfriends for a fun get-together. Plus, Goff can be there for last-minute outfit emergencies. 'We had a lady call who was having something filmed at her house the next morning and needed an outfit,” she says. 'We went by her house at 8:30 p.m. and found some things that fit for her occasion.”
Goff, who has worked at Jamie boutique and with Tina Adams Wardrobe Consulting as a personal shopper and wardrobe consultant, is combining her two biggest passions: fashion and helping people. 'There's something about fashion that, if done well, makes people feel good about themselves,” she touts on her website. 'With my counseling and fashion background, helping women feel confident through fashion is really fun to me.”
Goff is focused on catering to the customer by carrying sizes zero to 14; she also makes an effort to keep her average price point around $140 while still featuring fabulous brands like Tai jewelry, Chelsea Flower, Catherine Malandrino, Walter Baker, Love Sam, Drew, and David Lerner. Thinking down the road toward long-term goals, Goff says there is the possibility of going brick-and-mortar but, for now, 'the perks of the truck are definitely what's making it successful. The convenience factor is really what is making this thing go!”
