And, while the store is a branch of Steve Madden, you won't find the designer's usual kicks here. Each pair of men's and women's Freebird soles is one of a kind. You read that right: Freebird craftsmen make each pair using stacks of leather hammered together and carefully stitched to create a virtually indestructible sole unlike any other in the line. (Not to mention, it means these Freebirds aren't just fly. They're strong, too.)
The shop itself has the same vintage feel as the shoes. From exposed brick walls to textured hardwood floors, browsing the cozy space is an experience that can only be described as cobbler-meets-couture.
