Nothing beats the feeling of cracking open a new book, regardless of what chapter of life you’re on.
Not to mention that fresh book smell. Read on for three new books coming this month with lessons that guide through life’s seasons.
I Thought It Would Be Better Than This by Jessica N. Turner
Influencer, speaker, author, and mother Jessica N. Turner is speaking vulnerably with her new book I Thought It Would Be Better Than This. After losing her 16-year-marriage when her husband came out as gay, I Thought It Would Be Better Than This is born out of the determination she utilized when regaining control of her life, ultimately choosing hope to rebuild the next chapter. The read toes the line between a self-help book and memoir, emphasizing practical takeaways such as practicing forgiveness and self-love.
“I Thought It Would Be Better Than This is the most personal book I have written. I tell a lot of vulnerable stories that I have never shared before,” Turner says. “I also think I have become a much stronger writer since I released my first book in 2015, and that is reflected in this book.”
Turner hopes the book helps readers “feel less alone and take control of hard circumstances in their lives to create beauty, even if life looks different than they imagined.” (Releases April 8)
When I Talk to God, I Talk About Feelings by Chrissy Metz and Bradley Collins
Companion to Chrissy Metz and Bradley Collins first children’s book, When I Talk to God, I Talk About You, new release When I Talk to God, I Talk About Feelings helps little ones navigate feelings through prayer. The writing, accompanied by Lisa Fields’ adorable illustrations, makes large topics more digestible for kids. The book explores emotions through gentle, affirming reflection.
“The inspiration came from all of the book [When I Talk to God, I Talk About You] events we had. I would often ask questions about the first book, and inevitably, the conversations would always turn to how the kids were feeling and what they wanted to share. There’s such a desire to be seen and heard at any age,” Metz says. “I really wanted to write something that young readers could refer back to, whether it was a feeling or a way to express what they were experiencing.”
Though the target audience is kiddos, there’s something that could be learned from this read for all ages exploring or practicing faith. (Releases April 8)
