When celebrity trainer Josh Rogers opened The CoolSpot alongside his fitness followers Cynthia Arnholt, Perian Strang, and Mary Wilson in the summer of 2017, the goal was to bring revolutionary muscle and joint recovery options to individuals in Nashville’s athletic community.
All four had been avid users and proponents of Whole Body Cryotherapy since 2012, but finding cryo solutions in Nashville had been a challenge.
In the fall of 2018, the partners and their team members traveled to New York City to receive training in their newest modality, Cryoskin 3.0, a revolutionary treatment used to kill fat cells and increase collagen production. The CoolSpot Cryotherapy was the first studio in Nashville to offer Cryoskin 3.0, and it became a chilled-out hotbed for clients looking for non-invasive alternatives to other anti-aging and fat reduction therapies.
And while the therapies are top notch and next level, it’s the staff and the vibe of CoolSpot that truly sets it apart. The friendly folks who work (and frequent) the studio are patient and knowledgeable, and believe no question is a silly one. They’re happy to help newcomers through what can feel like a scary new endeavor.

Whole Body Cryotherapy uses extremely cold temperatures to promote natural healing and wellness—and we mean extremely cold. Temperatures in the tanks drop to -160 degrees or colder thanks to the release of nitrogen vapor. (Don’t worry, your head is out and protected by a shield so you’re not breathing in the fumes.) The process puts your body into a "cryo-state," initiating both a rejuvenation and a restorative response which continues long after the three-minute session.
“For me personally, I love how I feel after a whole-body cryotherapy session,” Rogers says. “I have a ton of energy; my workouts are better; I sleep great; I feel more focused; and it’s a great way to burn more calories throughout the day.”
Cryoskin 3.0 uses similar principles. A technician will work with you to select the parts of your body that might benefit most from the procedure—be it love handles and belly fat, facial lines and wrinkles, cellulite, or others. Over the course of several treatments, these areas are exposed to sub-zero temperatures to destroy body fat and result in slimmer, toned bodies and the elimination of fine lines and wrinkles.
With so many cool benefits, Rogers says he sees clients come in for a wide array of reasons, from inflammation reduction and better circulation, to skin tightening and metabolism boosting.
And for those who are afraid to brave the cold, he has some advice.
“First, I explain the many benefits of the whole-body cryotherapy experience,” he says. “It is also comforting to know that a tech is in the room with you for the entire treatment, chatting with you and making the three-minute process fly by. Most people are completely sold on the benefits and how amazing they feel after only three minutes.”
