As you make your way through the lobby of the gleaming new Westin Nashville toward the private elevator that whisks you up to its in-house escape, Rhapsody Spa, you might not be consciously aware that your stress level is loweringbut, trust us, it is. As you approach the sleek, onyx check-in desk that's framed with a living plant, your inner journey has already begun.
Rhapsody Spa is both intimate and luxurious. From the way that the true marble tiles are laid at the entrance, to the neutral coloring and natural materials used throughout, every detail of the space has been conceived to give an effect of moving inward. 'It's a very grounding experience when you first come in,” spa director Michelle Young notes.
With services that range from facials and body scrubs to massages and nail treatments, the spa is meant to cater to travelers and locals alike. 'We want this to be a place where locals find wellness, too” Young adds. At Rhapsody, wellness isn't just about pinning down a healthy lifestyleit's also about finding the joy of living, Young says. And that starts with a visit to the locker room, where private steam showers scented with eucalyptus are a smart way to shed the outside world and prepare for a total escape. There is also a shared dry sauna, plus robes and products for pampering.
From there, you'll head into the relaxation room, which is bathed in white and gray, and settle in on an ultra-comfy lounger to await your service. Give yourself time herethe staff greets you with a glass of sparkling wine, or you can partake in the infused waters prepared daily by the hotel's culinary team, along with other treats, like spiced nuts or fresh juices.
The treatments (which might be what you really came for but won't be the only reason you return) are provided by soft-spoken and thoughtful technicians, whether you're in for a Swedish massage or something more tantalizing, like the spa's signature Bourbon Bubbler Body'brasion, which involves a bourbon-infused brown sugar exfoliation, followed by a massage. For couples, the Just the Two of Us service starts with a brushing exfoliation, followed by full-body massage, and the service can be customized with upgrades or special amenities on request. A separate room houses the manicure and pedicure stations, making it a convenient spot for quick, midday treatments.
In fact, the spa intends to launch express midday services this winter, Young adds, meaning you can pop in for lunch and a brow shape or quick mani-pedi. And all guests are given access to the hotel's fitness center and indoor pool, as well as the hotel's stunning rooftop pool and bar, L27.
'Because wellness and the joy of living can mean many things,” Young laughs.807 Clark Pl, 629-800-5050; rhapsodyspanashville.com
