Steel 'Dores
Celebrate the 20-year anniversary of the Steel ‘Dores as they commemorate this milestone with an exciting and diverse program, Sunday, November 17, 7:30 p.m., in Ingram Hall. This is a free event with tickets required for admission.
Program information:
The program will include two original compositions penned especially for this occasion. A member of the inaugural steel band in fall, 2004, and former Blair student Krystal Folkestad, nee Grant (BMus ’05) has reimagined her composition “Riverside Forest Drive” for steel band and will be in residence both virtually and in person in preparation of this piece.
Another commemorative composition, “Salt of the Earth,” will be debuted by Blair senior composition major, and four-year member of the Steel ‘Dores, Daniel Hong (Blair Class of ’25).
A “Meet the Composers” event will take place prior to the concert where they will talk about their compositions and how they chose to musically celebrate the 20th anniversary of the steel band program.
In addition to the original pieces, there will be plenty of fun music from the Caribbean and beyond.
