UNZINE introduces Nashville art audiences to the eponymous zine series created through a partnership of The Contributor newspaper, Nashville Street Poetry Project and Stagger Press. The brainchild of local artist Paul Collins (Stagger Press) and Contributor Executive Director Will Connelly, this unlikely collaborative series has generated an incredible series of DIY publications that have succeeded by tapping into the untold stories of the Contributor’s vendor community.

Since January 2025 vendors of the Contributor have been collaborating with local artists and writers to create zines - low fi, low cost, easily distributable comic books - that vendors create and sell independently. Working in a workshop format on a bi-weekly basis, the UNZINE has come to life with the help of volunteering local artists Melissa Willis, Benji Anderson and Joe Nolan and his groundbreaking Nashville Poetry Workshop. This exhibition will feature original artwork from the 2025 UNZINE series, as well as artworks by our collaborating local artists and writings from the Nashville Poetry Workshop.
