Andy May, a guitarist, mandolin player and singer-songwriter, began his career in New York’s Greenwich Village during the folk revival of the 1960s.
Andy May, a guitarist, mandolin player and singer-songwriter, began his career in New York’s Greenwich Village during the folk revival of the 1960s. After moving to Nashville, he became an educator and producer. May is a former Union Grove Old Time Fiddler’s Convention guitar grand champion, winner of the International Bluegrass Music Association’s 2008 Recorded Event of the Year award and an annual performer at both MerleFest and the Walnut Valley Festival. He mentors young musicians through his Acoustic Kids workshops and showcases.
