Family Program
Attendees can join the museum to write a song as a group in this introductory workshop. Participants will hear a brief performance on traditional West African lutes by performance troupe AfricaNashville leaders Sekouna Conte and Ibrahima Dioubate, multi-instrumentalists and performers of West African music originally from Guinea. Music professional Adam Ollendorff — who has toured as a member of Kacey Musgraves’s band and has written songs recorded by Will Hoge and Keb’ Mo’ — will teach the fundamentals of songwriting, including form, theme and rhyme scheme. Then, participants will share ideas and write an original song accompanied by AfricaNashville. (Recommended for ages 7 and up, but all are welcome)
