Artville Talk with Allison Hueman & Pedro Andrade
Artville organizers will kick off the festival by honoring its roots in the Wedgewood-Houston neighborhood. Join Oakland-based artist Allison Hueman and New York-based journalist Pedro Andrade for an opening talk. The talk is free to all who register and will be held in the Outfield space next to the Nashville Warehouse Company on Chestnut Street.
Allison Hueman creates dynamic paintings, murals, site-specific installations, and new media works that oscillate between abstraction and representation of human form. Driven by instinct and experimentation, Hueman renders sublime and transcendent experiences by abstracting figures, layering and enveloping them in vivid colors with paint and textiles.
Pedro Andrade is a New York-based journalist from Rio de Janeiro, where he built a successful career anchoring Manhattan Connection. Andrade also anchors the two most-watched travel shows in Latin America — Pedro Pelo Mundo and Entre Mundos, on Global Network and CNN. In the United States, Andrade has anchored NBC Universal’s national and weekly lifestyle program LXTV 1st Look, and hosted segments on The Today Show, NBC Nightly News, Nightline, and GMA.
Artville is Nashville’s first and only annual public arts festival dedicated to highlighting Nashville’s creative culture through site-specific art installations, immersive experiences, and art collecting opportunities – all free to the public. With a vision of building a nationally recognized citywide art festival, Artville aims to drive arts-related tourism, and support Nashville’s growing community of visual artists, galleries, art museums, and cultural institutions through an annual event. Co-founded by Samantha Saturn and Jack Davis and supported in part by The Nashville Convention & Visitors Corporation, Artville has become a major event that celebrates and amplifies Nashville’s vibrant artistic community.
