DAVID FERGUSON: NASHVILLE NO MORE
One of Music City’s secret stars enters the spotlight on Nashville No More, the debut album from David Ferguson. The protégé to producer Cowboy Jack Clement, Ferg’s lovable eccentricity shows up in spades, with burly-but-sweet vocals, classic-pop stylings, and a guest list befitting his resume. (Available Sept. 3.)
HUSH KIDS: WEATHERMAN
Folk pop duo Hush Kids chose their own emotional forecast on their Weatherman EP. Produced by Ian Fitchuk (Kacey Musgraves, Leon Bridges), Husk Kids’ Jill Andrews and Peter Groenwald call on nature to guide them, with whispering-wind harmony and warm sonics meant to melt the ice of a frozen heart. (Available Sept. 24.)
SPENCER CULLUM: COIN COLLECTION
The go-to steel guitarist for everyone from Miranda Lambert to Kesha, Spencer Cullum trades his picks for a microphone on Coin Collection. Opening a worm hole back to ’60s and ’70s experimentalism, it’s a psychedelic folk-rock trip with roots in London and Nashville and flute solos galore. (Available Sept. 24.)
MICKEY GUYTON: REMEMBER HER NAME
With Remember Her Name country talent Mickey Guyton puts an exclamation point on her long-overdue ascension, and she’s not pulling any punches. Full of empowered vocals and optimism—but with eyes wide open to challenges faced by disenfranchised Americans—she shatters glass ceiling after glass ceiling. (Available Sept. 24.)
