While many artists measure success by radio singles, Moore has become an international touring powerhouse, selling out theaters and arenas across North America, Europe, Australia, and South Africa. His catalog has surpassed a billion streams, and fans often compare the intensity of his live shows to those of rock icon Bruce Springsteen.
Moore, whose new album Reason to Believe is available now, believes the connection comes down to one thing: humanity.
"My songs have never been boxed in," he says. "It's not just describing life in small-town Georgia. The songs are a little more vast. I'm touching on the human emotion and condition, how we respond and see things, and not so much about a place. And I think that matters."
That same perspective shapes the way Moore lives offstage.
Although he rarely talks publicly about it, the singer has quietly devoted years to charitable work through One Heartbeat, a fund he created to support recovery and rebuilding efforts on Maui. As his career expanded internationally, so did his philanthropy.
During one tour of South Africa, Moore met a woman who operated a soup kitchen feeding hundreds of children every day. He began by helping pay for meals, but his involvement quickly grew.
"The next time I went back, it was, 'Okay, what do you need now?'" Moore recalls.
Her answer surprised him.
She wanted a safe house for children with nowhere to go during times of crisis.
Moore helped make it happen, creating a home complete with running water, laundry facilities, a kitchen, beds, and a caretaker who provides stability for children who previously had nowhere safe to land.
Rather than arriving with his own agenda, Moore says he prefers to listen first.
"I kind of leave it open to God directing me where I need to be," he says. "Who do I need to talk to when I'm here?"
His fans, he says, are an essential part of those efforts.
"They don't realize that they're a vessel of the things that I get to do out here," Moore says. "Just them showing up and providing me with the life that I have and the ability to help people … I wouldn't be able to do that if I didn't have a fan base."
The same authenticity that drives his philanthropy fuels his songwriting. Whether he's performing overseas or writing alone each morning with a cup of coffee, Moore says he has learned that honesty is the greatest connector.
His willingness to embrace vulnerability has become a defining characteristic of his music, allowing audiences around the world to see themselves in his songs regardless of geography.
That outlook traces back to his upbringing in Tifton, Georgia.
"I didn't come from a lot at all, but I had a roof over my head, and I had food on the table, and I had two parents that cared about me," Moore says. "More than anything, the humans that they were, I couldn't have gotten it any better."
Years ago, before he ever had a hit record, Moore spent hours talking about life, family, faith, and purpose. Today, the venues are dramatically larger, but the conversations – and his soul -- are same.
