Quartz Hill Records newcomer Nate Barnes is no stranger to love. In fact, his premier single which will masks its country radio debut on February 16, stands to be a modern-day love ballad.
Despite the song's misleading title, "You Ain't Pretty" finds Barnes singing quite the opposite. With lyrics like "I ain't ever seen you looking any less than a ten / Every time's like an angel walked in," "You Ain't Pretty" is the perfect song to serenade your special someone with this Valentine's Day.
Ahead of the February 14 holiday and his song's country radio debut, we asked Nate to dish on all things Valentine's Day. See below where the singer-songwriter shares everything from his perfect date and Valentine's Day plans to the most romantic songs on his playlist.

Nashville Lifestyles: What are the most romantic songs on your playlist at the moment?
Nate Barnes: "Afterglow" by Ed Sheeran, "Beautiful Stranger" by Marcus King, and "All Your'n" by Tyler Childers.
NL: How will you be spending Valentine’s Day this year?
NB: Cooking steaks for me and my dog Nash.
NL: What does your perfect date in Nashville look like?
NB: I’d take her to dinner, then we’d do a little slow dancing down on Broadway. We'd go get some ice cream swirls followed by a nighttime drive and then maybe end the night with some Netflix.
NL: What is your go-to song to serenade someone with?
NB: To be honest, I don’t think I’ve ever done that before. But If I ever did, it would probably be a Tupac song or something like that!
NL: Do you do gifts for Valentine’s Day? If so, are you a traditional flowers and chocolates guy or something more unique?
NB: Well, I do like giving flowers and would probably make a special dinner. Then, I’d make her a nice bath. Nothing too crazy. But I sure don’t wait for one day out of the year to show my love for someone. If you do that, then you have already messed up. Remember that, all you young bucks out there! Also, you don’t have to spend a lot of money to show you care. Just put some thought and heart into the little things for her and you’ll be just fine.
