The TV show “Music City” follows the lives of six young adults who are looking to make it big in Nashville–but not just in country music.
The show’s first season wrapped in April and was recently renewed for a second, which is slated to premiere Thursday, January 3, at 10/9c. The show follows Alisa, a California native looking to rise to the top of the country music charts; Rachyl and Kerry, a couple attempting to balance Kerry’s music aspirations and Rachyl’s dreams of law school; Jessica, a rising singer-songwriter as she searches for “the one”; Alexandra, who has her eyes on the prize of Miss USA; and Jackson, a personal trainer and fitness instructor.
We caught up with the cast and talked about how they like to spend their days off in the city and what they’re most excited about, looking forward to Season 2.
Nashville Lifestyles (NL): What’s your favorite thing to do in Nashville?
Alisa: I like to just drive around and be outside. There’s so many parks, there’s the Parthenon. I’m from California, so we don’t have this amazing nature and weather, so I love doing that.
Rachyl: Going camping right outside the city.
Kerry: Fishing, fly-fishing specifically, at the bottom of the Percy Priest Dam. They catch a 55-pound striper, and I think the record’s 65 pounds. Personally, mine is five pounds, but I’m getting better.
Jessica: Hang out with friends; go to a Preds game.
Alexandra: I love the restaurant scene. I’m born and raised here, so I’ve loved experiencing new restaurants. They’re popping up everywhere. Right now, my favorites are Barcelona [Wine Bar] and Answer. There’s a few that I really love, so exploring that, going to happy hour with friends, just being a normal 25-year-old.
Jackson: Me and my girlfriend like to try a new spot out each month, whether it’s a new restaurant, new hotel, things like that. She’s not from here, so I try to show her around as much as possible. We love 51North Taproom. It’s a cool place to go as well as Nicky’s Coal Fired. It’s fantastic.
NL: What are you most looking forward to in Season 2 of “Music City?”
Alisa: There’s so much drama going around this season. I feel like the first season, if we’re on a scale of one to 10, was maybe a four, and we’re taking it up to an 8, 9 this time.
Rachyl: I’m looking forward to my family and friends seeing more about my life in Nashville.
Kerry: To see the drama that we just went through. They got some good stuff. It’s going to be interesting to watch it back.
Jessica: I’m looking forward to seeing my wedding on TV.
Alexandra: I’m looking forward to seeing the waterfall scene. That was a really great thing. A lot of us went to this great waterfall in Tullahoma, and then we had a ton of girls’ nights, which were a blast, and also just drama-filled adventures. There’s so many things to look forward to about this season.
Jackson: Just doing [the season] with [my girlfriend]. All of us are a lot closer this time around, so you kind of know what to expect going into it, but you can expect a lot more drama and more of a togetherness when it comes to the cast.
