Brendan Sodikoff of Chicago-based Hogsalt is partnering with Sam Fox, founder of Author & Edit Hospitality, to bring Au Cheval to Music City’s 12 South neighborhood, opening late Fall 2026.
Au Cheval Nashville will occupy a 5,000-square-foot space in the heart of 12 South, the walkable neighborhood centered on 12 Avenue South known for its boutiques, design-forward retail and steadily rising culinary cachet. Positioned next to Sushi-San and La La Land and across from Lululemon, the address places Au Cheval squarely in one of the city’s most active hubs and just minutes from downtown.
Sodikoff, who launched Hogsalt in 2010, built his reputation on dark, intimate dining rooms and unapologetically indulgent comfort food. The group now has 19 locations across Chicago, New York and Paris, with high-profile destinations like 4 Charles Prime Rib, Bavette’s Bar & Boeuf, and Monkey Bar earning loyal followings for their moody atmospheres and decadent menus.
For Fox, the collaboration builds on the expanding national footprint of Author & Edit Hospitality. The growing collection of properties includes The Global Ambassador in Phoenix, the luxury MICHELIN one-key hotel and culinary destination that has earned international acclaim, as well as Nashville’s The Twelve Thirty Club, the multi-level dining and entertainment destination that helped reshape Upper Broadway, with a second location opening in Austin in late 2027.
Author & Edit Hospitality will operate Au Cheval Nashville, further deepening the company’s presence in the city. For Hogsalt, the project marks a thoughtful expansion of one of its most recognized concepts beyond Chicago and New York.
Fox and Sodikoff’s professional history adds an unexpected layer to the story. Early in his career, Sodikoff served as opening chef at Fox’s Olive & Ivy in Scottsdale, hired by Fox himself. Years later, both have built nationally recognized hospitality groups, and the Nashville project feels like a full-circle moment.
