The new Germantown restaurant concept, Mother's Ruin, is slated to open its doors on Thursday, December 12, and will occupy the historic 1239 Sixth Avenue North building that previously housed The Mad Platter restaurant.
The main bar room at Mother's Ruin will boast 1,200 square feet with a 36-foot bar while upstairs guests will find a restored owner's apartment and glassed-in patio which will be available for private event bookings and not to mention some of the best sunset views in Germantown. An additional 1,500 square feet of garden seating will also be available in the spring.
The brain child of TJ Lynch and Richard Knapp, who have since brought on partners James Metze and Nick Pfannerstill, Mother’s Ruin is a nod to the mid-eighteenth century nickname for Gin. At the helm of the kitchen, Chef Pfannerstill crafts elevated bar food with a refined touch designed more for everyday diners than the destination-minded foodie.
