The brainchild of Nashville resident Scott Lenox and his brother-in-law Mark Supalla, The Drop is a new personal shopping and delivery service that makes grocery shopping as easy as placing an order on your smartphone.
'I spend most of my time on weekends going from one store to another for our well-rounded grocery list,” says Lenox. 'I end up going to three or four different stores, fighting traffic and looking for parking spaces when I could be doing something more productive.” After polling a few people, he says, 'I decided to [offer] a service that would give people their weekends to spend more time with their families and doing things they enjoy.”
The Drop currently caters to downtown residents (with hopes to expand to Green Hills, Belle Meade, and beyond) and takes orders for Whole Foods, Harris Teeter, Trader Joe's and Target. The membership fee for recurring delivery is $25. Once signed up, customers create shopping lists online that must be submitted by 3 p.m. for next-day delivery.
'We feel like we can help people save money by planning and avoiding impulse purchases [and] eat better by planning healthy meals,” says Supalla, adding, 'We hope to give our customers back more of their free time.”
