Designer Zac Posen works with an admiration for the female form, and this month, will present his sculpturally loose piecesin burgundy bronzes, midnight blues, and patent black jacquardsduring the 12th annual Nashville Symphony Fashion Show, taking place April 18 at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. Also headlining the event: 23-year-old Best New Artist Grammy nominee Kelsea Ballerini as the featured entertainer.
'I have always supported the arts and education, so when the opportunity came to us to be part of such a fantastic organization, I was honored and excited to do it,” Posen says. Presented through a partnership between the Symphony and Gus Mayer of Nashville, the fashion show benefits the symphony's artistic, education, and community engagement programs. 'To me creativity is about expression, discipline, and collaboration. Creativity needs to be nurtured even more outside urban centers.”
The 2017 collection, which marries his signature structures with a 1940's-referenced fluidity, was presented in February at a photography exhibit during New York Fashion Week.
'This season, we went back to my origins. It was important for me to show people the evolution of my brand over the past 15 years by connecting integral key elements of my past. It was amazing and emotional for me to be able to share intimate moments of my past and history to a wider audience.”
That audience now includes those attending the 12th edition of the annual Nashville show, which will be emceed by former Miss Tennessee, actress and television personality Allison DeMarcus, with Janet Ayers as honorary chair.
