The sun is finally peeking out, temperatures are on the rise, and everyone seems to have a little extra pep in their step. But it’s not just the weather that’s giving us spring fever; the season of new beginnings also means an opportunity to brighten up your home.
If a full home remodel feels a little ambitious, rest assured, we have the perfect fix to bring all of the beloved brightness and colors of spring into your home without breaking the bank. The magic fix to easily transform your space from winter drab to springtime fab? Fresh flowers, of course.
If there’s one true symbol of Spring in Nashville, it’s Amelia’s Flowers. Tourists and locals alike flock to the signature Volkswagen flower trucks parked in neighborhoods throughout Music City. In addition to the ever-popular trucks, Amelia’s Flowers is making it more accessible than ever to get your hands on some beautiful blooms with storefront locations in West Nashville and Franklin. So, who better to teach us the best ways to incorporate bouquets into the home than Amelia’s Flowers owner, Mattie Bush?
“Flowers just bring so much beauty and joy into a space,” she says. “I love having an arrangement next to my bed because I have something beautiful to go to sleep and wake up to. It’s also able to elevate what might have been a kind of ‘boring’ space.”
But with so many stunning seasonal arrangements to choose from, picking the perfect flowers to spruce up your space can be a bit overwhelming.
“I am so excited for spring flowers. I personally love tulips in the spring. I've not always been a huge fan of one flower variety in an arrangement, but a full vase of tulips just gets me so excited for spring to arrive,” Bush says.
Pastels are always a spring favorite, and Bush is loving the opportunity to bring those colors to life in her bouquets again this year.
Bush even has a few tips to keep your florals alive and thriving.
“Change the water at least every other day and clip the stems at an angle when you do. If you have purification essential oils, drop some in the water and it will kill all of the bacteria,” she says.
It’s advice we plan to heed because wilting petals are the only downside to a springtime bouquet.
