Pantone surprised the creative masses by announcing a dual color of the year for 2021. The color matching system normally offers up one hue to define the design (and the vibe) of each year, but for 2021 it was a color combo that made the cut. The honor went to Ultimate Gray and Illuminating, the latter a sunny yellow. Pantone called the duo “a marriage of color conveying a message of strength and hopefulness that is both enduring and uplifting.” A perfect pairing and statement for an era following one of the hardest and darkest years in history. And as we begin our spring cleaning and the subsequent spring redecorating, we took inspiration from one half of Pantone’s doctrine and thought where better to start than that bright and bold statement shade: yellow.
