GARETT BUELL
Tucked into a hillside at the corner of two posh streets in Forest Hills sits a sleek mid-century modern that hit the market with a bang.
Originally constructed in 1966, the haute home was renovated in 2007 (with an addition in 2012) by architect Michael Goorevich and designer Katy Chudacoff with painstaking attention to quality and detail. And while its interiors are stunning, the home’s design draws attention to its impressive outdoor space. Walls of glass put the property’s green space and pool views on full display. An outdoor kitchen and entertaining area are an inviting spot for guests to congregate on a breezy Nashville evening, and above it all a wood-and-steel trellis creates an architectural focal point while marrying the home’s original ranch style to the addition’s more modern sensibilities.

The striking structure is as aesthetically pleasing as it is utilitarian, shading the poolside terrace on lazy summer days. The current homeowners are ready to move on.
“We have loved living in this house. It has been a wonderful place to raise kids. The multiple, flexible spaces have allowed everyone privacy when they want it, and space to entertain and hang with friends when wanted. We can have two or three rooms full of different groups of teenagers, all having fun, none stepping on the other groups’ toes, all while the adults have a peaceful, comfortable place themselves,” they say.

“We have had parties that begin outdoors then move into the addition for a catered, sit-down dinner for 80 people. We can use the addition as a large, screened-in, semi-outdoor pavilion, or close it up and use it as a movie theatre. And all our kids’ friends want to be at our house. We also wanted to use our yard, which previously had minimal shade and just a large, very hot brick patio. The addition changed the way we live in our house, allowing real enjoyment of our outdoor space, and comfortably accommodating visiting family and friends.”
The property is one of the most unique mid-century moderns in Forest Hills, and it is offered for sale by Patricia Strauss and Gabriel Lira at Compass.
