The strip of restaurants and bars on Demonbreun between Music Row and the interstate has traditionally been a wasteland for folks seeking well-crafted cocktails and creative food choices. Two Bits, located next door to Tin Roof (and also owned by Bob Franklin), aims to change all that.
The bar is well stocked with top-shelf spirits and boasts a menu of clever drinks designed by mixologist Alan Kennedy. The rustic, den-like bar also offers a selection of local and regional beer. The food menu concentrates on casual dishes that are elevated by their ingredients. Chef Will Zuchman, a Philadelphia transplant and Stephen Starr alum, does wonders with bar snacks like popcorn dressed up with a dash of bacon and expertly fried beer cheese croquettes that have a decidedly Midwestern vibe.
Plenty of food and funthe back half of the narrow shotgun building is dedicated to vintage video games, like Space Invaders, Asteroids, and Ms. Pac-Man. Best of all, instead of costing two bits per game, all the machines are free. Patrons can also check out game consoles to enjoy their old favorites on high-def video screens while they eat. With so few places to find free entertainment, Two Bits is worth a visitespecially for those looking to reconnect with Mario and Donkey Kong.
